26August2008 INNERKIRCHEN,SWITZERLAND- HÄNGESEILBRÜCKE-- The hanging rope bridge Trift becomes the high-altitude and longest hanging rope bridge of Europe, which was built for mountain climbers. A max. load of 750 kg/m2 plus the dead weight is considered in the statics computation. The traction powers amount to 117 tons for each side. The span amounts to 101,60 m and crosses the ravine of the Triftwassers in over 70 m over the tosenden Gletscherbach. The construction is implemented after Nepalese building method and consists of 220 prefabricated stealing hurrying and 210 larch wood planks. The entire bridge is locally assembled and hung up at 6 steel cables. The assembly is made in over 70 m by the abyss and requires absolute concentration and perfect job planning. THE TRIFTGLET-- That Triftglet has today a length of approximately 5,1 km, a surface of approximately 15,5 km2 and extends between 1 ' 650 m ü. M. and 3 ' 380 m ü. M. (autumn 2003). The glacier possesses, a branched feeding area with a tongue, expanded relatively far, on 2 ' 350 by a narrow discharge over a steep stage into a flat running out basin pours, which is defined by a rock bolt northward. Because of the end around 1860 the tongue end of approximately 2,5 km continued to be to the small ice age valley outward and 1936 poured over the glacier the rock bolt broad planar, where it stagnated starting from 1960 over longer time. To center of the 1990er years was still enough the tongue to at the beginning of the ravine in the rock bolt.
