how to breed demasoni cichlids Orange Chromide Breeding Pair & Fry

Watching Cichlids take care of their fry is fun to watch. Both male & female Cichlids care for their fry (in most cases). Cichlids are great parents in animal kingdom & its fun to Breed Cichlids & watch the Cichlid fry grow.

In the Video are Freshwater Orange Chromide Breeding pair with new born fry. They keep digging & building nest for the fry & wont tolerate my presence near the tank.

In case you are interested in Breeding Cichlids below information might help & this is what I follow.

Step -1
I get juveniles Cichlids about 5 to 7, this helps avoid aggression
Step-2
I wait for the Juveniles to grow & pair up by them-self, Once I see a male & female guarding a certain cave or place in the tank & chasing away any fish getting close to it ,is an indication that they are ready to breed.
Step-3
I move the breeding pair to a separate breeding tank, the breeding tank is either bare bottom or sand. I include a Clay pot or a cup. Depending on the species of Cichlids I add plants as plants do not work with cichlids which build nest by digging sand.
Step-4
I leave the breeding pair in the breeding tank for a week or so. Then I change water & increase the temperature by 2 degrees, this usually triggers spawning.
Step-5
I raise Cichlid fry in a separate grow-out tank.
